Elaine Garvey is from County Sligo, Ireland. Her short stories have been published in The Dublin Review and Winter Papers. Her first novel, The Wardrobe Department, is forthcoming with Canongate in February 2025. She began writing the novel on a Stinging Fly fiction-writing course with Sean O’Reilly and continued it under the Words Ireland mentorship programme with Danielle McLaughlin.
Elaine received an Agility Award from the Arts Council of Ireland in 2021 and has been selected as a participant on a Basic Income for the Arts pilot scheme by the Irish Department of Arts. She is represented by Eleanor Birne at RCW Literary Agency.
